PRHS Campus Safety Update and Reporting Reminder
Good afternoon Bearcats and Bearcat Families,
We are writing to inform you that Paso Robles High School administration is aware of rumors circulating among students, families, and on social media regarding alleged threats toward the school community.
Yesterday, administration investigated an old text message that had resurfaced and was being recirculated among students. Additional rumors and secondhand claims circulating this morning are also being taken seriously and are being reviewed in coordination with law enforcement and school administration.
At this time, no direct reports containing specific or credible information regarding these circulating claims have been made to school administration, law enforcement, or the District’s anonymous tip line. We want to reiterate that if you see, hear, or become aware of anything concerning, you should report it immediately to school administration, a counselor, law enforcement, or through the anonymous tip line — even if you believe someone else may have already done so.
When rumors circulate widely, it can become easy to assume that “someone else already reported it.” However, when people rely on that assumption, important information may not reach the authorities responsible for investigating and responding. Direct reporting, rather than reposting or discussing concerns through social media, group chats, or text messages, allows appropriate authorities to assess situations quickly, thoroughly, and effectively.
We strongly urge students and families not to spread unverified rumors, screenshots, or secondhand information online. Sharing unconfirmed information is not harmless — it can unintentionally contribute to fear, confusion, and misinformation within our school community, while also making it more difficult for authorities to identify and investigate credible concerns in real time.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. If at any point school administration or law enforcement believed there was a credible or immediate threat to students or staff, appropriate action would be taken immediately, and families would be notified through official District communication channels.
We appreciate the partnership and cooperation of our students, families, and community as we continue working together to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership,
District Administration
