March 30-April 5, 2026

Good Afternoon Bearcat Families,

We have a short school week ahead as Spring Break begins after school on Thursday. While this will be a much-deserved break for everyone, please students, use this time wisely. When we return, April will be halfway through, and the end of the school year will be rapidly approaching.

The break is an excellent opportunity for students to complete any missing assignments and to begin reviewing for upcoming major tests, including AP Exams, CAASPP and CAST testing (English Language Arts and Math; and Science for Juniors), and Final Exams for all students, which will be here sooner than you think.

A special message for Senior parents: Please reinforce our common expectation that all students, should finish the year strong. Daily attendance and appropriate campus behavior are required through June 5th. Seniors whose attendance falls below the District Standard of 90% (visible in Aeries) risk losing the opportunity to participate in end-of-year activities, most importantly, walking across the stage at graduation. Seniors who are at risk have already received multiple warnings and still have several options to make up missed class time (including Saturday school and community/school service, which will be widely available in the coming month). Please check your student’s attendance in Aeries and encourage them to attend school daily.

Finally, we need to address a dangerous trend that has emerged over the last several years involving high school students and toy projectile guns. A quick internet search will show the popular trend of students shooting these toys at one another. This is inherently risky, especially when combined with driving; but it cannot be overstated that our campus cannot be the setting for these games.

An internet search would also show real firearms that are customized with paint and other alterations to look like toys. Given the tragic reality of school violence today, distinguishing a real firearm from a toy in a matter of seconds could easily become a matter of life and death. We will be taking this matter extremely seriously and appreciate your support from home in keeping our campus safe.

Thank you everyone and I do hope we all enjoy the last days of March with much to look forward to.

Go Bearcats!

Principal and Director of Athletics

Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative

Paso Robles Joint Unified School District is committed to ensuring that every student has access to the resources they need to stay healthy and succeed in school. A new California program – The Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) – reinforces this commitment by unlocking additional funding for schools, making it easier for students to get behavioral and mental health support at no out-of-pocket cost to families. Paso Schools will be implementing this program next Fall, 2026.

What does this mean for you? No out-of-pocket cost: A new state law requires health insurers to cover the cost of behavioral and mental health services. Schools will ask for your student’s health insurance information, but rest assured: families won’t be charged – no co-pays, no billing, and no impact to your insurance premiums. No effect on outside care: Getting services at school won’t limit your student’s ability to receive care outside of school

Consent: Your consent may be required for the school to share certain health details. You will receive a form with further details. Your Information is Safe. Your child’s privacy matters. All data is protected under federal laws that safeguard health and education records.
