February 2-8, 2026

Good Afternoon Bearcats!

There are countless examples on our campus of people who go above and beyond their duties, to make a positive difference in the lives of our students. But none more so than our PRHS Counseling and Mental Health staff. Whenever you are reading this message I invite you to please take just a moment to reflect upon this work and perhaps reach out and thank this team, as we enter what is nationally recognized as Counselor Appreciation Week. It is always difficult to sum up the work that happens every day on our campus but we are so grateful for the extraordinary impact that our counselors, psychologists, and mental health providers make.

For over fifty years in the United States we have set apart the entire month of February in celebration of Black History. Over the next 28 days our entire District will be including student lessons and messages that showcase the incredible, positive impact that has been made by African Americans to the remarkable success of our country; and 2026 actually marks a full century of commemorations. This year's theme will be centered on that milestone.

As we look a little forward into February we have a couple of short weeks, with a pair of Federal Holidays mid-month, but not yet. This week coming up is a full week of classes, Monday-Friday; and I hope it is an enjoyable one for all of us.

As always, parents, thank you for your partnership.

Go Bearcats!
Mike Susank,
Interim Principal

Reminders

Athletics Tryouts this Week

Girls Beach Volleyball begins with open court on Monday, February 2nd, from 3:30–5:00 PM at the beach courts across the street. Visit the Athletics section of the PRHS website for more information.

Boys Tennis tryouts will also start Monday and Tuesday, February 2nd and 3rd, right after school. No tennis experience required—just show up in athletic shoes and shorts. Rackets and balls will be provided.

To participate in PRHS athletics, students must have a current physical on file and be registered in Home Campus.

ELPAC Assessment Continues

This is a reminder that we are officially beginning the Speaking portion of ELPAC Testing at PRHS this Monday, February 2nd. There will be over 238 students testing in a 1:1 setting over the next three weeks.

Thank you for the time and care you invest in preparing students. Your encouragement and targeted practice make a real difference. Encourage students to speak clearly, do their best, remember that this assessment helps us understand their progress so we can better support their learning as well as getting plenty of sleep and remind them to eat a good breakfast.

Our goal for each student is to move up at least one level or to receive an overall 4 on all assessments.

Thank you for your support.
