Bearcat Eligibility

Dear Bearcats,

The requirements for participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities have been reviewed to align with the district belief and vision that every student will have success in college, career, and community.  Requirements have been aligned with:

  • Academic progress to ensure students are on track to graduate and ready to enter college if they choose.
  • Responsibility and commitment reinforcing important skills for success in career.
  • Attendance and behavior focused on preparing students to be productive members of the community and society.


Those Bearcats that participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities are also leaders and representatives of Paso Robles High School.  As representatives of the Bearcats, we expect students in extra-curricular and co-curricular programs to hold themselves to a high standard of achievement, responsibility, and professionalism. These requirements also provides the school the opportunity to support and provide strategies for students to remain in good standing throughout their time at PRHS.

Please be aware that starting in 2023/2024 students’ grades, attendance, fines, and citizenship will be used to create the Activities/Athletics Accountability List.  PROGRESS REPORTS, QUARTER GRADES, AND SEMESTER GRADES WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY. Students on the No Privilege List will not be allowed to attend or participate in dances, school activities, school events, field trips, athletics, competitions, or performances.

Students must maintain:

  • 90% Attendance Record (period absences)
  • 2.0 GPA (total non weighed each grading period) - Probation available for GPA 1.50-2.00
  • No more than 1 failing grade
  • No ongoing discipline issues including site contracts, district contracts
  • No Unserved Saturday School Detention - Can be cleared once served
  • Be on track for graduation (Seniors after 3rd Quarter Grades)

These requirements are not designed to exclude students from participating in extra-curricular and co-curricular programs but create an opportunity to change their behavior to ensure success. Students with improving behaviors will have the opportunity to be removed from the list. Whether they are a student-athlete, student performer, student competitor, student organizer, or a student leader, Bearcats must remember that "Student" comes first and foremost. Extra-curricular programs can only come when the curricular program requirements are fulfilled.
