Bearcat Science Students Help out at Elementary STEM Nights

All PRJUSD Elementary Schools put on a community STEM Night (Science Technology Engineering Math). Paso Robles High School Science is happy to come alongside the efforts of the elementary teachers who host these nights, offering student volunteers and some fun science apparatus. High Schoolers from the upper level science classes (Anatomy, G.E.O, Physics, Chemistry) volunteer to serve back at their old elementary schools, each student runs a station that gets the younger kids hopping with excitement. It's never a dull show as students walk on broken glass, get their hair raised with static electricity, play with anatomy models, and peer into the microscopic world.

Huge thanks goes out to Mark Fairbank who founded this program for the high school and still comes back from retirement to help train the high schoolers and even run the stations himself. Also, enough can't be said about the amazing elementary teachers who attend and organize these nights for their communities. Jillian Jaeger (Kermit King), Kara Turton & Megan Ford (Georgia Brown), Monica Pafumi & Jill Goldbach (Virginia Peterson), Nancy Mayer (Pat Butler), Melinda Corbin (Winifred Pifer), and Clarisse Dart (Glen Speck). We are impressed with the incredible dedication our elementary counterparts show with our students.
