Hello GEO Students,

On this Friday, you will be reading a few articles that I hope will make the issue of water a bit more relevant to you. Maybe you've been thinking "Why learn this boring groundwater stuff?". Please read all the articles that are linked to the shared doc and write your responses to each. Go ahead and type directly into the document (a copy was already made for you). I want us to take some time talking about these articles when we come back next week.

Don't forget about our knot test on Monday (maybe take some time practicing today!)

Also, remember your field notebooks are due on Monday.

For this activity, you will be researching some of the various ways that we can reduce our greenhouse emissions and avert worldwide issues related to climate change. It isn't all about just one of these solutions. You will present your findings to the class on the day of the final.

After reading the article related to our PETM Leaf Analysis Activity, answer these questions on the form provided.

You must create your own map of our upcoming hike to Pinnacles National Park. Use the trail map and discussion we have in class to create your own trail map. Download a pdf of your map and upload to this assignment. I will print out maps for you to put into your notebook.

130 years of sea level data is shared with us from NASA. Your job is to first graph a 6.5 year span and then compare your segment with the full data set. You will need to be able import data from a .csv file into a google sheet. 

Complete the handout in your notebook (copy provided here as well). 

Turn in your Google Sheet with 2 graphs (one for your small data set and one with the full data set)

Creating a graph from a set of data can be challenging but this is a critically important skill to have. For this assignment, you will collect demographic data for any 2 countries. Pick any demographic feature. Be careful, some countries did not exist back in 1989. Also, some demographic features aren't consistently reported for all years.

Work with a partner, select a country and create a poster showing how the population has changed over time. Use the template poster provided. Information can come from any source online, you must reference the source in the citation box at bottom of poster.

Complete this assignment, attach the pdf of your finished map.
